European Warehouse Expansion

This July our UK logistics team popped over the English Channel to visit Contra Vision’s new warehouse in Edam, Netherlands.  The warehouse is ideally located to allowContra Vision to serve its Continental European customers better with improved delivery times and to avoid any Brexit-related disruption

The first orders were processed through Edam on 15th July and Sarah and Vik were both there to ensure everything went smoothly.

“We wanted to see first-hand how our stock was being managed and be there to identify any early processing issues” said Sarah. “Pieter, Olaf and Abanoub from Yusen logistics provided a warehouse tour and while most warehouses look very similar it is noticeable how much emphasis the Yusen team put on continuous improvement with ‘Plan, Do, Check, Act’ boards being very visible and weekly productivity reports openly shared with the whole team”.

The roll size of Contra Vision’s products can sometimes create an issue for logistics companies, at Yusen this has been solved by using super wide racking meaning there is no overhang, which helps to reduce the risk of damage.

We are currently storing approx. 1200 rolls at Edam and this will be increasing over the next few months. Our Manchester, Trafford warehouse will continue to serve our UK customers.

Of course no trip to Edam would be complete without a trip to see the Cheese Market and Sarah and Vik stopped by to see the cheeses arrive by boat and the sellers dressed in traditional Dutch clothing.
